Coronation Street star Kym Marsh, is encouraging people to join her and quit chocolate for a whole month in March as part of British Heart Foundation’s new fundraising campaign, DECHOX.
Kym’s family have been personally affected by heart disease. Her father had a cardiac arrest at the age of 49, and a heart attack two years ago, when he was 67. Kym’s son, David, contracted a heart infection last year, despite having no known pre-existing heart conditions.
The campaign (shot in studio four) will also run on social media sites with the #dechox tag, and a dedicated Dechox Facebook page.
Leah Mates, fundraising projects manager at the British Heart Foundation, said: “This [is] the first time we’ve asked supporters to raise money for the BHF by abstaining from something they love as part of a national campaign.
“We hope as many people as possible will get involved in the first year of Dechox and encourage their friends and family to support and sponsor them.”
