‘tis the season to eat, drink and be… sharing!
So this year we’re supporting local people and families in crisis by donating food to the Manchester Central Foodbank.
Helping people from all different backgrounds affected by all kinds of financial and emotional pressures – ranging from family break-ups to redundancies to overwhelming monthly bills – this Manchester outpost is one of almost 400 Trussell Trust foodbanks across the UK.
With 13 million people in Britain recognised as living below the poverty line, and foodbanks across the UK feeding 346,992 people last year, the Trust’s three-day emergency foodbox has become an essential boon for people struggling to feed themselves and/or their families, so we’re more than happy to give some of our food to help.
There is a full list of the foods the Manchester Central Foodbank and other Trussell Trust foodbanks local to you would gratefully receive here, and an excellent blog on the Manchester Universities’ Catholic Chaplaincy website about volunteering at the foodbank here.
