two wheels, good cause
Three cheers and a can of Deep Heat are in order for the gallant Photolinkers who completed the Manchester to Blackpool charity bike ride this Sunday. Raising money for The Christie NHS Foundation – a leading cancer centre which helps over 40,000 patients a year across Manchester – the team included photographer Paul Fawley, repro specialists Andy Wilson, John James, Steve Wilks, finance assistant John Roberts and freelance designer Degsy, who all set off in the early hours of Sunday morning with over 8000 fellow riders.
While all of the above made it to the Golden Mile in one piece, only a few had enough juice under the bonnet to do the return trip. Messrs Fawley, Wilks and Wilson were the ones who dug deeper and ended up cycling the 122-mile round trip in a little over 7 hours – no doubt reenergised by a few jars along the route. Legs were a little bit shaky yesterday morning, but anyone who’s ever been to Blackpool on a weekend will know that feeling well. A good effort for a good cause all the same, so well done to you all! Same again next year, chaps?
