Tuning up for the NABS Music Quiz 2012

Where did that year go? It seems like only yesterday we were getting our hides whipped in the National Advertising Benevolent Society’s (NABS) Manchester Music Quiz. Well, it’s whipping season again for us as we enter and host the Bauer Radio-sponsored event for the second year running.

Bringing together the bold and the brainy from across the city’s leading digital and advertising agencies next week (Oct 11), the annual quiz helps raise money and awareness for NABS, an organisation offering financial and emotional advice and support to professionals in the creative advertising and media industries.

While we’re fully aware that it’s the taking part that counts at the NABS quiz, we’re also acutely aware that teams like BSkyB (aka ‘The Big Dish’) and TBWA Manchester (aka ‘Quiz Akebusi’) took no prisoners last year. Expecting the same caliber of competition this year, we’ve been listening to Radio 2 on repeat. No pain, no gain, as they say.

Even if that preparation fails, we’re a pretty crack team when it comes to entertaining so we should at least win some plaudits for keeping the drinks on ice and the pizzas piping hot. Bauer Radio is also sponsoring the quiz will so the music should be scratch free and as diverse as ever.

Kate Harris, who heads up the North West arm of NABS, says there are still a few tickets left priced at £125 for a team of four, so if you’re feeling lucky (or encyclopaedically minded, going on last year’s questions) get in touch with her here. All proceeds go to NABS and towards the continued support of creative professionals in times of need.
