Lead Stylist

Responsible for Styling team

 

Line Manager: Creative Director

External relationships: Clients, freelancers, suppliers if outsourcing is required

Internal relationships: Studio team, Photographic Team, Production, Creative team

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Styling mannequins, flats, accessories, still life, model shoots and creative campaigns
  • Working across a range of accounts on client-facing shoots
  • Meet daily and weekly targets whilst maintaining high quality of styling and creative flair
  • Responsible for own time management and team work with photographer on set to ensure workload is complete to a high standard
  • Accurately following detailed client briefs and Style Guides to ensure the product is shot consistently
  • Train and mentor members where directed and as required as well as arrange any external training
  • Ensure teams are keeping sets and styling area well maintained and tidy throughout the shoot day and at the end of each day
  • Work with photographer on set to direct model and select the best imagery
  • Take an active interest in brand development and undertake research and create mood boards when necessary
  • Take ownership of key accounts – working closely with both internal and external teams to ensure a smooth shoot day
  • Work with Heads of departments to continuously try and find ways to streamline processes and ensure quality is maintained
  • Lead monthly styling meetings for the team
  • Busy workload – work at a positive pace to meet individual deadlines, as well as greater needs of the photographic team
  • Work with the creative director to devise direction for styling team
  • Produce styling trend books for development for the team and style guides for internal and external teams when necessary
  • Support the Art Director on set
  • Continuously evaluate model poses, product representation and editorial/retail landscape to ensure our business is the leader for styling
  • Responsible for all styling equipment and working within a budget
  • Working closely with production to ensure stylists are assigned to the right jobs
  • Using workbook, approving stylists holidays, sick days and ensuring timesheets are completed daily
  • Carrying out regular 1:1s with the team
  • Carry out performance reviews at least once a year with the styling team and creative director
  • Responsible for recruiting new members of the team

 

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Experience as a senior stylist in a photographic styling team
  • Have an active sensibility, interest and understanding of fashion trends and brand awareness and understanding how to translate these into brand appropriate mood boards and concepts
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating skills across editorial, fashion, ecommerce and still life
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience of working directly with Creative Director and clients
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Proven experience styling in a high volume, demanding e-commerce environment
  • A firm understanding of current and upcoming trends and how they relate to our client needs
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Google Docs/indesign/Capture 1
  • Ability to work with and develop studio systems and processes
  • Comfortable working towards defined Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) from clients
  • Be a strong team player who is eager to learn and can grasp information quickly
  • A good understanding of what it takes to maintain and develop the most productive client relationships
  • Strong listening and questioning skills
