Cassie Lomas has been a makeup artist for over 15 years. During that time she’s worked with some of the most famous celebrities in this country and abroad. Whilst on a recent shoot at Photolink, Cassie took the time to answer one or two of our questions.
Why do you think so many high profile celebrities return to use Photolink’s studios?
It’s quite simple really. Apart from the studios being super slick, the reception you get is great and all the staff members are particularly friendly and helpful.
What advice would you give to anyone who is looking to follow your successful career path?
It’s certainly not going to come and knock on your door so spend each day going out to get it and making a good impression. Makeup is only 50% of your job and the other 50% is you as a person so always try to go that extra mile. What more can I do? How can I improve? Challenge yourself.
How much has the industry changed over the years?
It’s changed hugely! I miss the anxious minutes waiting for Polaroids to develop! Everyone wants to do what we do as a job because they think its glamorous, but only those with real talent and passion succeed. That’s why I love Photolink, it’s a creative hub that collates the best people in the industry on a daily basis.
What about going forward and the changes we can expect in the future?
It’s already become so much faster paced and I love that the digital era has created so much more work for everyone. Going forward I can’t wait to see what happens in the coming years, I’m really excited about it! I guess there’s an element of the unknown ahead and that’s interesting too.
I don’t really see it all as a challenge because I love every aspect of my job. If I didn’t I’d be in the wrong job!
