Getting Your Navigation Right

Navigation is key to every website, but if you have a deep and complicated offer, how can you improve the User Experience (UX) whilst maintaining a simple journey?

Enter Regis: one of the UK’s largest high-street salon chains, who asked that exact same question.

We had the answer.

Regis wanted their site to have a perfect split of content (on WordPress) and an online store selling hair products (on Magento). Hence we embarked on the challenge of improving the navigation across the two different platforms, making it easier for visitors to effectively use Regis’ site.

Firstly, we banished the fragmented feel to the site, stripping it back to the basics. Everything was condensed into a primary navigation, enabling users to instantly find their local salon, purchase their favourite haircare product, and read up on next season’s hair trends, all at the click of a button (or tap of the finger, as the case may be).

At the back end of the site, the code in the navigation was a mirror across WordPress and Magento; but for the customer viewing at the front end, the navigation was simple and seamless. We achieved what we set out to do.

30 days after Regis’ new-and-improved navigation was launched, the following results were found:

  • 23% increase in salon searches
  • 18% increase in e-commerce conversion rate
  • 30% increase in sales
  • 14% increase in AOV
  • 29% increase in site search
  • Mobile +41% Conv Rate / +42% Salon Searches
  • Tablet -8% Conv Rate / +4% Salon Searches
  • Desktop +23% Conv Rate / +15% Salon Searches

It’s fair to say that the figures speak for themselves.

Regis were extremely happy with the results, as were we. Do you want help with your online needs? Drop us a line at – we’d love to discuss how we can help you!
